05 Mar Ecological Field Trip

A follow-up ecological field trip for the October campaign was conducted in March 2022 by a small group of 5 researchers. The main objective was to resample the before visited sites in order to cover different seasons (i.e., the end of the dry and the end of the rainy season). Again, the focus was on eu- and prokaryotic microorganisms, algae, macroinvertebrates, and the physico-chemical parameters. After the successful data collection, the confluence of Iriri and El Mellah was scouted for the potential of a future study of low-and high saline confluences.
