SEFS 12 Virtual Conference

From the 25th – 30th of July 2021 the 12th Symposium for European Freshwater Sciences (SEFS 12) was held as a virtual conference due to the health risks and travel restrictions caused by the Coronavirus. Nevertheless, thanks to the efforts of the organizers, the virtual platform provided a conference-like experience. Two oral presentations were given by the SaliDraa-Team. While Maren Nothof presented first results from eDNA metabarcoding of microeukaryotic and prokaryotic communities in the Draa during the session on “Genetic approaches to assess and monitor freshwater biodiversity and ecosystem functions”, Nils Kaczmarek presented the results of his first publication “Environmental change threatens freshwater insect communities in Northwest Africa: a meta-analysis” in the session “Freshwater invertebrate biodiversity – threats, assessments, knowledge needs and conservation challenges.”
